Event Details

The 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Liberal Democrats for Electoral Reform (LDER) will be held on November 21 via Zoom, starting at 7:30pm.

This year’s General Election gave us the most distorted result in history. The Labour Party has formed a Government with 63% of parliamentary seats on only 34% of the popular vote. More than half of the votes cast in this election didn’t count at all and turnout was the second lowest in the post-war era.

At the same time, we also have the most pro-PR Parliament in history, including 72 Liberal Democrat MPs.

Join us for our AGM to find out what we have been doing this year; and discuss the prospect for reform in this Parliament.

Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the meeting.

The relevant papers will all be available on our website by 14th November: https://www.lder.org/agm-2024

All are welcome at our meeting, but only paid-up members of LDER will be eligible to vote.

You can join or rejoin LDER here: https://www.lder.org/join-us

We look forward to sharing our work with you and to the next phase of the campaign.

We are delighted that, after AGM formalities, we will also host a panel discussion focused on the prospect of electoral reform in this parliament, featuring:

  • Laura Parker from Labour for a New Democracy. Laura is at the forefront of the Labour campaign for electoral reform and was instrumental in achieving Labour’s landmark 2022 conference vote in favour of PR.
  • Mark Kieran from Fair Vote UK. Fair Vote UK exists to hold power to account in the areas of democratic reform, campaigning transparency and digital regulation. They are acting as secretariat for the newly formed All Party Parliamentary Group for Fair Elections.
  • Sarah Lewis from the Executive Committee of Liberal Democrats for Electoral Reform.

After a discussion, the panel will take your questions.
