Event Details

Come to enjoy a leisurely afternoon with us in these beautiful grounds on the banks of the River Frome. This exquisite garden includes an ancient mill with a working water wheel and extensive land bordered by the river. Our generous host has invited us to enjoy a leisurely afternoon in this gorgeous outdoor space or, should the weather be unfavourable (the forecast is for sunny and warm!), in the fabulously atmospheric Mill.

A complementary glass of Pimms, or a non-alcoholic fruit punch, will be offered on arrival and wine, beer and other soft drinks can be purchased throughout the afternoon. We will provide a delicious summer lunch with meat, fish and vegan options, accompanied by a selection of salads, followed by fruit and cream. Tea and coffee will be available after.

Entertainment will be provided by French Connection, our favourite local jazz band and, during an interval, there'll be a raffle with lots of amazing prizes (more always welcome!) and, because this is an important fundraising event, an auction with fantastic items to bid for.

But where is it? you ask! As it's a private residence, we won't supply the exact address until a couple of days beforehand. All ticket holders will receive an email with directions and a postcode and other relevant details. For the moment, it's approximately 9 miles south of Bath, and 5 miles north of Frome, on the A36 between Wolverton and Beckington.  We are very happy to match up people needing and offering a lift from either direction. Let us know if you need or can offer a lift, for how many, and from where.

Please also let the Events Team know at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements, and we will do our best to accommodate them.

This is one of our key fundraising events and to swell the coffers further there will be a fabulous raffle and auction where you can bid for unmissable prizes (if you have an auction item or raffle prize you’d like to donate, the Events Team will be very pleased to hear from you).

Open to all members, supporters, family and friends.

Accessibility information: We aim to ensure our events are as accessible as possible, however, please note:

The venue is a private garden with largely level access from the car park, and in some places steps/slopes to negotiate in the surrounding garden. There is an accessible toilet in the building.

This is a major fundraiser for the Local Party and tickets are priced accordingly. Thanks to kind donations, a number of subsidised places are available, for members for whom the price is a barrier to attend.

Children under 12 are welcome to attend free of charge. Please note that there is a river with some steep banks on the premises. Parents/guardians are asked to keep children away from the water for their safety and to be responsible for them at all times.

If you have any special dietary requirements, please do contact the Events Team at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate you.

The venue is accessible by car only (not by public transport). Ample and accessible parking is available. Members are encouraged to carpool/bring a friend! We are happy to match guests needing lifts with those able to offer them. Please let us know if you need or can offer a lift, for how many and where from.

Please contact the Events Team if you have access requirements or questions about the venue.
