Event Details
We're delighted that Michael has agreed to come to an impromptu 'pizza and politics' evening this Friday (19 May) at 7pm at 41 Axminster Road, Penylan, Cardiff, CF23 5AR.
Michael has been at the heart of British politics for three decades. From his days working for David Hunt at the Welsh Office, where he was part of the team that put the Welsh Language Act onto the statute book, he has seen Westminster from the inside.
Describing himself as a 'protegee of Charles Kennedy', he has written biographies of Joe Grimmond and Ted Heath, for whom he was private secretary for five years. He subsequently spent two-and-a-half years as chief executive of the Independent Press Standards Organisation (previously the Press Complaints Commission).
He is now a playwright and will be joining us to discuss political theatre, the lessons Liberal Democrats can learn from Joe Grimmond, what it was like to work for the "incredible sulk", Ted Heath, and a great deal more.
