China is the world’s second largest economy, a vast market of 1.4 billion people and the source of many of the goods on which our daily lives depend. Global challenges such as climate change and transnational health threats cannot be tackled without cooperation and dialogue with China. 

How should the west handle the challenge and opportunity of China today? How should western leaders strike the balance between cooperation, competition and confrontation?  What does China want? Where is the relationship between China and the west heading?
