Camden and Haringey Liberal Democrats invite you to meet Lord Newby at a Drinks Reception

Lord Richard (Dick) Newby, OBE, PC, has been Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords since 2016. He served as the Government Deputy Chief Whip and the Captain of the Yeoman of The General Guard between 2012 and 2015. He was the Lib Dem Lords' Chief Whip between 2012 and 2016.
Prior to the creation of the Lib Dems, Dick was Secretary to the Social Democratic Party's (SDP) Parliamentary Committee and, later, Party Scretary. David Owen, the former Foreign Secretary described him as 'an able young Civil Servant who resigned to work for us'.
Dick has also worked as Chief of Staff to Charles Kennedy before moving on to support Ming Campbell as Leader.
