An evening with Marina Litvinenko in discussion with Edward Lucas
Marina Litvinenko’s husband Alexander was murdered by a Russian hit squad in the heart of London, using deadly radioactive polonium, in November 2006—the penalty for his forthright criticism of Vladimir Putin’s regime. The Litvinenko murder prompted Edward to write his international bestseller, the New Cold War (2008). The dramatic and tragic story has also featured in films, plays and an opera. For years the British government resisted a public inquiry into this lethal act of terrorism and downplayed the Kremlin’s involvement. But the killings have continued, in London and elsewhere.
Marina has steadfastly championed her late husband’s memory and urged the public to take seriously the danger posed by Putin’s Russia to us. She’s also a Lib Dem supporter!
Don’t miss this unique chance to meet one of Britain’s bravest human rights campaigners and hear her story first hand, in discussion with our candidate, the world expert on international security, Edward Lucas.
