AGM & ANNUAL DINNER : Fri 3rd Nov '23 - TAUNTON RUGBY CLUB - HYDE LANE -TA2 8BU 

You,your partner, family and friends are warmly invited to join us for our Annual Dinner and AGM on the evening of Friday,3rd November 2023 where our Special Guests will be Richard Foord MP, who was elected to Parliament in 2022 after our historic Lib Dem by-election success in his Devon constituency, and Sir Vince Cable, former Business Secretary and leader of the Liberal Democrats from 2017 through 2019.

This year’s dinner will be a two-course buffet from the renowned Rugby Club Carvery, with vegetarian,vegan and gluten/free options, followed by a selection of delicious desserts. Alternatively, there will be a cheese and biscuit option, which will carry a £3 surcharge. All followed by tea or coffee.The ‘Card Only’ licensed bar will be open throughout the evening. The whole event will be held at ‘Veritas Park’,home of Taunton Rugby Club, and we look forward to welcoming you all to this new venue. There is an abundance of floodlit car parking adjacent to the stadium as well as good access for disabled people, including a lift to all floors.

Apart from a host of excellent speakers, entertainment and fun will be offered in the form of our ‘Something for Everyone Auction’ (including the chance of a dream holiday in the Lake District),our ever-generous Raffle plus the terrific value of our Champagne Draw! ( If you can donate an auction or raffle prize, please let us know as soon as possible!).

Dress code will be smart casual.

There is also an opportunity for your company or organisationto sponsor the event and we would encourage any of you with business connections to get in touch–we have the choice of Gold or Silver Sponsorship packages which are detailed in ticket section.

The Dinner will, as usual, be preceded by the AGM which will start at 5pm downstairs in theTwickenham Room. It will be an exciting AGM this year,as it will include the inauguration of the new Taunton and Wellington local party. The Dinner will start at 7pm, upstairs in the Priory Suite.

We have endeavored to keep ticket prices competitive but, please remember, this is our main fund- raising event and likely to be our last Dinner before the General Election! With this in mind we will offer a discounted ‘Early Bird’ price of £38.00 (including a £3 voluntary donation) ending on 30th September; thereafter the price will be £43 (again including a £3 voluntary donation). For Young Liberals under the age of 30, the price will be held throughout at £35.

Last year’s Dinner was a great success with over 120 of us enjoying a wonderful get together. This year we have fantastic election results to celebrate both here in Somerset and nationally and we would be thrilled to make this year’s event even bigger. So please reach out to your own family and friendship groups and bring a party along.
