KILLER IN THE KREMLIN an evening with John Sweeney

Eastleigh Liberal Democrats are delighted to host what promises to be an intriguing and informative evening with John Sweeney, one of the UK's most respected investigative journalists and writers. John will share the background to his Sunday Times bestseller, Killer In the Kremlin, a gripping and explosive account of Vladimir Putin’s tyranny, which charts his rise from spy to tsar and exposes the events that led to his invasion of Ukraine and his assault on Europe.

One of our favourite things about John (of course) is that he is a member of the Liberal Democrats, believing like all of us in progressive liberal democracy, and there will be the opportunity to ask him questions on the night.

The ticket price for this event gives you access to the event and there will be a cash bar. There will also be the opportunity to purchase a copy of John's book which John will sign for you on the night.

About John Sweeney

John went to school in Eastleigh and has had a remarkable career, working as a reporter for The Observer newspaper for 12 years and BBC’s Panorama and Newsnight. Many of his films and reports have become part of the country's news narrative. He spent four years investigating the tragic “cot death” cases of Sally Clark, Angela Cannings and Donna Anthony, who were wrongly imprisoned for allegedly killing their children, and he has also produced exposés on subjects including Mugabe Scientology and North Korea. In 2017 his Panorama documentary Trump, the Kremlin Candidate? aired just days before Donald Trump's inauguration.

John's current podcast series, Taking On Putin takes the listener right into Ukraine as war rages around him. John currently spends most of his time in Ukraine reporting from the front line and publishing a daily video update on Twitter, and for his Patreon supporters by email.
