Event Details

Meet a leading Environmental Lib Dem Peer  - and our Westminster Spokesperson - at our Highgate Drinks Reception

Come and meet The Baroness (Cathy) Bakewell of Hardington Mandeville, at a Drinks and Nibbles

Everyone knows that it is the Liberal Democrats who have been at the forefront of the drive to stop the water companies from dumping raw sewage in our waters, which is toxic to both swimmers and wildlife alike.  The Tories, meanwhile, have been fighting our attempts to hold these companies to account.

One of the leading Lib Dem champions in this fight is The Baroness Bakewell, who will speak about her work in the Lords -- and make the legal, moral and political case for sewage-free waters. You'll also get to meet Cllr Scott Emery, a councillor for Highgate and the Westminster Spokesperson (Hampstead and Highgate seat). Highgate, don't forget, will soon be unified in Parliamentary terms -- but both Highgate wards will remain in Camden and Haringey respectively for Council business.

The start time for this event is 19:00.Tickets are limited, so book early to help your local parties as elections loom (London/GLA elections -- followed by a General Election).

Tickets costs are:

  • £25 (Standard)
  • £15/negotiable (Unwaged/Young Liberals)
  • Or make a donation to help Fund A Ticket and/or sponsor the wines/nibbles

The venue is, roughly, in between Archway and Highgate Tube Stations (Northern Line) - i.e. a ten-minute uphill walk. It is served by buses 143/210/262/271. Parking is limited but these are various bike stands dotted around. The venue is also fully accessible.

Proceeds will be split 50:50 between both Camden and Haringey branches.
