Event Details
Don’t miss this chance to hear Britain’s leading contemporary historian on Europe’s past, present and future.
Timothy Garton Ash CMG is an Oxford University professor, columnist for the Guardian, and prize-winning author of more than a dozen books. He chronicled the collapse of communism in Central and Eastern Europe in the 1980s and has exposed the democratic decay we have experienced since, especially in freedom of speech. His latest book, Homelands, is a powerful personal account of Europe’s recovery from the hell of 1945, the division and reunification of Europe, the rise of authoritarianism and the catastrophic war in Ukraine. Signed copies of this gripping mix of memoir, reportage and contemporary history will be on sale.
Tim and our parliamentary candidate Edward Lucas have been friends since the 1980s. We look forward to their insightful and expert discussion, followed by questions from the audience. Tickets will sell out quickly — buy yours now.
